Guides / Breville and Sage 54mm
Breville and Sage 54mm machines.
Barista Express, Pro, Touch, Bambino, Bambino Plus, Infuser and Duo-Temp Pro all take 54mm baskets. Your tools are sized 53.3mm.
Why 53.3mm, not 54mm
The basket is 54mm across. A 53.3mm tamper leaves just enough room to drop straight in and press level, without catching the basket wall.
Which basket to prep in
Many of these machines come with two kinds of basket. Dual-wall baskets have a single exit hole underneath and build pressure on their own, so they hide prep. Single-wall baskets have many holes, and that is where even prep changes the shot. Use the single-wall basket.
What goes in your kit
- Rotary WDT tool, 53 to 54mm
- Impact tamper, 53.3mm
- Puck screens, 53.5mm
- Magnetic dosing funnel, 54mm
Bottomless portafilter
These machines use the Breville 54mm, 3-ear pattern. Ours is in verification and not yet for sale.
Dual Boiler and Oracle
These two take 58mm baskets, so they use the 58mm guide. Their portafilter ears are Breville pattern, not E61.
